Are you treading water?

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."  Psalm 118:24 (NIV)

Even when we are treading water, every day there is something to be thankful for.  There is something we can praise God for.  I'm thankful for the beauty of the natural world.

What are you thankful for today?  If you don't feel thankful today, please feel free to vent.  It is healthy to let off steam when needed.

When I was a caregiver, taking care of both my elderly, invalid parents, I felt like I was treading water.  I had to work at keeping a positive outlook, so I wouldn't drown.  I didn't like feeling trapped by this commitment, but I continued to put one foot in front of the other, continuing to keep my parents safe and secure.  With God's guidance and the continued support and help from Bill and our assistant I made it through.  I learned that staying close to God was the only way I could keep my head above water.

What is your present or past treading-water-experience?  Have you learned something that has help you to grow as a person?  Please share.

  1. Hi.Great blog, Ronnie..........We moved to NH on Dec. 16, 1991.....My Mom was in the last stages of Pulmonary Fibrosis....She moved here with us, which was very hard for her b/c she had always been very independent. It turned out that she only lived til Feb. and she was very sick the whole time. I remember it as a sweet time with my Mom. We had Hospice for the last few weeks and that helped a lot.
